Yellow Poplar

DSC_0089Yellow Poplar (Liriodendron tulipfera) or Tulip Tree is a major attraction for bees and gives a nice golden hue to the honey in the spring. It flowers in May along with Black Locust and other native flowers. The honey thus produced is fragrant, sweet and golden in color.

The current count of Poplar trees in the farm is 6 and each of them are well over 100′. Typically, these grow unto 200′ and are one of the tallest native American trees.
