Eastern Box Turtle

20160508_124928-1Eastern Box Turtle is a protected species and is generally found in deciduous forests, being a land reptile. Contrary to perception, it may drown when placed in deep water. It is elusive as it can easily hide below fallen logs, moist leaves and dirt. It is exciting to know, our farm has a box turtle too. Our endeavor to have a thriving biodiversity at the farm is surely paying off and addition of this turtle is a pleasant surprise. In  the days to come I guess, we would be keeping our eyes wide open to document its habitat and numbers.
